If you have a child who is scheduled to enter Kindergarten at Mount Desert Elementary School you will want to make sure you have signed him or her up for screening, which will take place in the afternoon on Thursday, September 10th and Friday, September 11th.

Although 1st - 8th graders at MDES will begin remote learning on Tuesday, September 8th, Kindergarten students will NOT start until Monday, September 14th.

Here's some important information about screening and device pick-ups for Kindergarten students

  1.  All parents and children will need to  wear face coverings.
  2. Mrs. Howell will meet you outside of the front of school, and will escort your child to the screening area which will be outside near the school garden.
  3. Ms. McKernan will meet with you while your child is moving between screening stations.

Kindergarten devices (I PADS) will be distributed at Kindergarten Screening.  Mr. Oppewall will provide a tutorial on how to navigate See Saw, the learning platform, and how to log into your child’s email account!

Students will also receive a learning bag which they’ll use during the first weeks of instruction at home. When in-person learning begins, this bag will travel back and forth to school with them. If your child chooses to explore the items within, please be sure that everything is put back inside before they begin school.
