More Snow Headed to Maine Tuesday Into Wednesday. How Much Will We Get?

It can't just be me who remembers Maine winters being a little bit more 'wintry' than they are now, right?

When I was a kid we always had snowmobiles to ride in the wintertime. And sure, we would toss them on the trailer and haul them up north for some spectacular riding on heavily maintained trails, but if we ever wanted to ride right here in Central Maine than we could head right out from the house and have plenty of snow to do it on.

Nowadays it seems as though even in the far reaches of Northern Maine it can be hit or miss with snow quantity. And, as the snow totals in New England seem to be on a steady decrease, the prices of new snow machines seems to be on a steady increase. Kind of makes a good case for just buying an ATV with a set of snow tracks just in case.

At any rate, even with our lackluster snowfall this season, it appears as though more is on the way. However, if you're a winter sports enthusiast I wouldn't get all hyped up and excited about this storm because, well, it's not going to be a proverbial doozy.

According to a weather report in the Kennebec Journal, Maine is on track for another area of low pressure accompanied by some snow late Tuesday through part of Wednesday. Temperatures will be rebounding a bit this week, too, so it won't be quite as bitterly cold as the weekend.

Snow moves into the region on Tuesday evening after dark and will move south to north through the state. While it could make for some slick travel on Wednesday morning, it appears as though this storm will only serve as a mild inconvenience and not a whopping that would provide some base layer for winter sports enthusiasts.

So, long story medium, it looks like most spots from Southern to Central Maine will only pick up about 1-3". Again, nothing to write home about (who does that ,anyway?) but enough to make the Wednesday morning commute a bit of a headache.
