Orono Boys Beat MDI 50-37 [PHOTOS/STATS]

The Orono Boy's Basketball Team beat MDI 50-37 in Bar Harbor on Tuesday, January 23rd.

Orono jumped out to a 16-8 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter and led 25-18 at the end of the 1st Half. The Red Riots led 41-29 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.

Orono had 3 players in double-figures. Ben Francis had 15 pace to pace the Red Riots. Pierce Walston had 14 points and Will Francis had 12 points. Ben Francis had 3 3-pointers, Will Francis 2 3-pointers and Pierce Walston and Bergen Sodenberg each had 1 3-pointer. Orono was 15-20 from the free throw line.

MDI was led by Jameson Weir with 10 points. Spencer Laurendeau had 7 points including a 3-pointer. James Witham and Joey Wellman-Clouse each had a 3-pointer. The Trojans were 4-8 from the free throw line.

Orono is now 11-3 on the season. They will host Houlton on Saturday, January 27th at 2:30 p.m.

MDI is now 6-7. They will host Caribou on Friday, January 26th at 7:30 p.m. and Presque Isle on Saturday, January 27th at 2:30 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA as well as on our free downloadable APP, on WDEA Internet Radio and any Alexa enabled device.
