Maine becomes one of the most expensive summer destinations in New England every year once tourists start flooding in from places like Boston and New York. Between the ocean views, luxury spas, private beaches, and coastal towns, hotel prices can get honestly ridiculous during July and August. Some of the state’s nicest hotels regularly cost over $1,000 a night during peak weekends.

One of the most expensive is White Barn Inn, Auberge Collection located in Kennebunk, Maine. It’s known for quiet luxury, amazing service, and private cottages. Summer rooms usually start around $1,200 a night, while larger suites can go over $2,500.

Cliff House Maine is located in Cape Neddick near Ogunquit on Maine’s southern coast. It’s famous for its massive oceanfront cliff views. During the summer, rooms often range from $900 to $1,400 a night, and premium suites can cost more than $2,000.

Near Portland in Cape Elizabeth, Inn by the Sea offers beachfront luxury with spa treatments and private beach access. Summer weekends there usually cost between $800 and $1,800 a night.

Hidden Pond is located in Kennebunkport and is famous for its secluded cottages and luxury “summer camp” vibe. Most cottages cost around $1,000 to $1,700 a night during peak season.

Finally, Samoset Resort is located in Rockport on the midcoast of Maine. The resort is known for its golf course, ocean views, and luxury waterfront rooms. Busy summer weekends there can range from $600 to over $1,200 a night.

Even though these prices are wild, people still book these hotels months ahead because Maine’s coastline becomes one of the most popular summer vacation spots in the country.
