Gold Ball Tonight!

The Ellsworth Eagles host the Lake Region Lakers tonight, February 26th at the Cross Insurance Center for the Gold Ball in the Class B Boy's State Championship game starting at 8:45 PM on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio. Our pregame will start at 8:30 PM.

Ellsworth is 17-4 and is playing in their State Final since 1998 when they lost to Cape Elizabeth 70-54. The last time the Eagles won the Gold Ball was in 1966, 50 years ago. Coincidentally, Ellsworth High School honored the 1966 Boy's Basketball Team in January.

Lake Region which lost in the South Regional Finals last year returns 11 varsity players. the last time that the Lakers won the Gold Ball was in 1985 when they defeated Dexter 58-56. That was the last time they have played in the State Finals.

Ellsworth fans are encouraged to wear white tonight! Adult tickets are still available for purchase during the day at Ellsworth High School. The school has sold out of all their allotted Senior and Student tickets. Those tickets are still available via Ticketmaster or at the door.
