It's the 2nd week of July and chances are the kids are bored from being out of school. If you're looking for some family-friendly, fun and free events this week, we have these listings for you!

Monday July 10

  • Bar Harbor Town Band - Will perform at the Village Green from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will take place at the First Congregational Church

Tuesday July 11

  • Ellsworth Public Library - Kids Yoga on the Lawn 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.-Join Miss Genevieve of Bala Bee Yoga on the library lawn for song, creative playful movement games to get the wiggles out, a mindful activity, breath work & yoga poses to compliment the featured book. Closing with a guided relaxation. Ideal for 3-9 year olds, Call 667-6363 or email kgancos@ellsworthlibrary,net to register. Bring your own yoga mat.
  • Bar Harbor - Jesup Memorial Library - Baby and Toddler Time - 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Join Abby for fingerplays, songs, and stories! Older siblings are welcome to join in
  • Southwest Harbor - Wendell Gilley Museum  7 p.m. - Author and naturalist Susan Hand Shetterly will delve into what she calls “the landscape of home”  as the museum’s People-Nature-Art presenter for July. There will be a book signing immediately afterward. The presentation happens live at the museum and will be simultaneously livestreamed. As always, People-Nature-Art presentations are free and open to all, but registration is required at www.wendellgilleymuseum.org/events 

Wednesday July 12

  • Southwest Harbor Public Library - Baby Story Time 10 a.m.-10:30 a.m.  Join Amanda for stories, songs, rhymes, books, bubbles, and more outside in our children's garden. If there is inclement weather, storytime will be held inside the library in the Holmes room. Baby Storytime is designed especially for babies under two years, but we are family friendly and we welcome siblings.
  • Bar Harbor - Jesup Memorial Library - Middle School Crafternoon -3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Middle Schoolers: join the Jesup for a laid back crafternoon. Tweens ages 9-13 are welcome. They'll provide the art supplies and you supply the creativity! Snacks will be served. If you have any questions, please contact Abby (amorrow@jesuplibrary.org)
  • Bar Harbor - MDI Biological Library - Family Science Night from 4 to 6 p.m. Family Science Night at the MDI Bio Lab is a summer tradition where scientists, students and the greater community come together for some hands-on science.  The year is extra special as the MDI Bio Lab is celebrating their 125th Anniversary with cupcakes and ice cream!   • Northeast Harbor Public Library - Northern Light Health Talk - The Evolution of Cancer Care 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Patients are realizing the benefits of a new era of care thanks to Northern Light Cancer Care's collaborations with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, the Jackson Lab, and others. Great strides are being made in the fight against cancer, with many patients living longer with a higher quality of life.
  • Ellsworth Public Library - The Magic of Peter Boie 6 p.m to 7 p.m. Peter first became fascinated with magic at the age of eleven when he stumbled across a magic book at his local library.  He now travels around the country performing his award winning magic that will defy your reality.  Peter’s show is about two things, astonishing magic, and having a good time; and he doesn’t skimp on either.
  • Ellsworth Concert Band -The concert take place at the gazebo in Harbor Park. The Band practices at 6 p.m. on Wednesday night, followed by the concert beginning at 7 p.m.

Thursday July 13

  • Jesup Memorial Library in Bar Harbor - Summer Reading: "Bee Musical: Bartok, Brahms, and Blues" with Janey Choi 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Join the Jesup for a concert with violinist Janey Choi from the Bar Harbor Music Festival!

  • Bar Harbor - First Congregational Church - Shaving Cream Whiffle Ball -4:30 p.m. Good clean fun for the entire family!
  • Southwest Harbor Public Library - Barns Art Performance - 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.A performance of a family-friendly play based on a picture book.
  • Ellsworth Waterfront Concert Series - "Ellas and Fellas: will be performing at the Gazebo in Ellsworth's Harbor Park at 6 p.m.

Saturday July 15

  • Southwest Harbor - Flamingo Festival Parade / Craft Fair and Children's Activities - Click HERE for a full list of Activities
  • Seal Cove - Seal Cove Auto Museum - Cars & Coffee: Hemis and Horsepower with special guest Tom Cotter 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. During this iteration of Cars & Coffee, visitors will experience some of the earliest high-performance engines through demonstrations of select collection vehicles including our 1915 F.R.P. and get to meet the legendary Tom Cotter.
    Free refreshments including fresh donuts and coffee will be offered.
    Admission is free during the hours of the event. Donations are encouraged and greatly appreciated!
  • Ellsworth Public Library - Join Miss Renee for a STEAM inspired activity in the Makerspace 10 a.m. - 12 Noon This will be a drop-in program geared towards children ages 6 to 12.
  • Jesup Memorial Library in Bar Harbor - Children's Author Visit : Alexandra Hinrichs 10:30 a.m.
