Expired Licenses and Registrations Extended Until July 11

The Maine Department of Motor Vehicles has been closed since March 20th and as a result Mainers have not been able to renew their driver's licenses, renew their registrations or register new vehicles. While some have been able to renew their vehicles via the rapid renewal option, or renew their license online, there hasn't been an in person option.

The City of Ellsworth posted on Tuesday, May 19th that Governor Mills has extended all expired vehicle registrations and driver’s licenses until July 11th per Secretary of State Matt Dunlap. The Bureau of Motor Vehicles hopes to reopen June 1st by appointment.
