Sumner Memorial High School 2020 Honor Parts
Principal Ty Thurlow has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2020 at Sumner Memorial High School.
This year’s valedictorian with summa cum laude distinction is Bjorn Collins, son of Will and Susan Collins of Steuben. The salutatorian with summa cum laude distinction is Skye Howard, daughter of Bentley Howard and Letitia Baldwin of Gouldsboro.
Collins has participated in the Drama Club with performances in the one-act plays at the Maine Drama Festival Eastern Regional Competitions. He also has participated in the Meetinghouse Theatre Lab, associated with the Schoodic Arts for All. Collins plans to attend Haverford College in Pennsylvania.
Howard is a member of the National Honor Society and Student Council. She has participated in cross-county, indoor track and softball. She earned an internship with the MDI Biological Lab last summer. Howard is planning to attend the University of Maine working toward a degree in Marine Science with a concentration in Marine Biology.
The first honor essayist with summa cum laude distinction is Blue Howard, daughter of Bentley Howard and Letitia Baldwin of Gouldsboro. Howard is a member of the National Honor Society and Student Council. She has participated in volleyball, indoor track and outdoor track. Howard plans to attend the University of Maine to pursue a degree in studio art.
The second honor essayist with summa cum laude distinction is Silas Goldfarb, son of Keith Goldfarb and Peg Rush of Steuben. Goldfarb has participated in soccer and earned All-PVC first team Class C honors for his senior year. Goldfarb plans to attend California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo, California to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.
