The Ellsworth Eagles Softball Team improved to 2-2 on the season with an 11-5 victory over the Foxcroft Academy Ponies on Saturday afternoon,  April 30th in Ellsworth

Ellsworth was led by Leah Stevens and Arianna Peterson who each banged out 3 hits. Abby Lynch had a double and a single with 2 RBI's.

Kate Whitney was in the cirlcle for Ellsworth, pitching a complete game, allowing 5 hits and 2 earned runs.

Ellsworth started the scoring in the 2nd inning when Katelynn Bagley walked and advanced to 3rd base on a single by Arianna Peterson. Bagley then scored on a single by Leah Stevens.

Ellsworth scored again in the 3rd when Breann Cummings had a 2 out single and later scored on a single by Bagley.

Foxcroft tied the game in the 4th with 2 runs but Ellsworth took the lead again in the bottom of the 4th, when  Peterson walked, Stevens bunted her to 2nd and Lynch singled scoring Peterson.

Ellsworth scored 3 in the 5th inning.  Bagley reached 1st on an error, Caitlin Bean singled,  and then Peterson doubled them home. She would score on a wild pitch.

Foxcroft scored 3 in the top of the 6th with 2 hits and 2 errors making the score 6-5 Ellsworth.

Ellsworth came back with 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th. Stevens singled, Hannah Sargent singled and Callie Hammer singled to load the bases. Abby Lynch doubled home Stevens and Sargent. Arianna Peterson later single home Lynch, making the score 11-5.

Kate Whitney retired the side in order in the 7th striking out 2 of the 3 batters.

Ellsworth, now 2-2 will play at Washington Academy on Monday, May 2nd before hosting MDI on Thursday, May 5th.

Foxcroft Academy is 3-2 on the season and plays at Old Town on Thursday, May 5th at 4:30 PM.
