The Ellsworth School Department has a number of families who due to challenging and difficult circumstances  are not eligible for free and reduced meals, but still struggle to pay for their children's meals at school.

Ellsworth does not stop a child from getting a meal if there's an outstanding balance, nor do they serve children with outstanding balances a different meal. That's food shaming and against the law, and Ellsworth has been a leader in this movement.

There's now a public effort to help these families, with the school department's "Lunch Box" program. Donated funds received will be placed in an account specifically for school meal purposes and distributed based on needs identified by school and food service administration.

If you would like to make a contribution to the Ellsworth School Department's Lunch Box Program checks made payable to the Ellsworth School Department may be mailed to the Superintendent's Office, 66 Main Street, Suite 201, Ellsworth, Maine 04605. In the memo field please note - Lunch Box Program
