Saturday, November 30th the City of Ellsworth will light their 2024 Christmas Tree. The actual tree lighting will take place at 5 p.m. sharp in the City Hall Parking Lot, but there are free, family-friendly activities leading up to the lighting, starting at 3 p.m.

Starting at 3 p.m. at the Ellsworth Public Library, children will be able to write a letter to Santa and sign up for the raffle to light the Christmas Tree at 5 p.m. This event is being moved to the Ellsworth Public Library so that everyone can stay warm!

From 3 to 5 p.m. there will be Holiday music playing in the Ellsworth City Hall Parking Lot. There will be fire pit tables and fun and games.

Some of the activities will include

  • Coston & McIsaac will be giving away light-up giveaways, perfect for the Tree Lighting and for the Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 7th.
  • Flexit will be providing Hot Cocoa
  • The Ellsworth Lioness Club will be giving away cookies.
  • Witham Family Hotels will be giving away books.
  • On the Horizon Food Truck will be on-site selling food
  • The Ellsworth Middle School 8th grade class will be selling food as a fundraiser for their Class Trip.
  • The Woodlawn Museum will be hosting games and an ornament craft for children
  • The Downeast Family YMCI will be hosting outdoor games.

We hope you are circling December 7th on your  calendars, as that will be the day of the 44th Annual Downtown Ellsworth Christmas Parade and Santa will be coming to Ellsworth!

This year's Parade will again be a light-themed parade, with the parade stepping off from the Ellsworth Elementary-Middle School at 4 p.m.  This year's theme is "Christmas in Toyland".

Parade participants  are encouraged to decorate their floats/vehicles with Christmas lights and other light up decorations!

Line-up for the Parade will begin at 3 p.m. on December 7th at the Ellsworth Elementary-Middle School and in the parking lot behind the Mill Mall. The Parade will travel down State Street to School Street across School Street turning onto Maine Street, traveling to the lower light and then back up State Street to the Middle School/Mill Mall area.
