The Ellsworth Eagles have won 3 out of their last 4 games after beating the John Bapst Crusaders in Ellsworth 5-4 on Tuesday, May 10th.

Ellsworth jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Zack McGraw walked and advanced to 2nd base when Chris Barnes was hit by a pitch. McGraw then scored on Jack Lee's single to left.

In the top of the 3rd John Bapst tied the score 1-1. Sam Southwick walked with 1 out and then advanced to 2nd when Nick Lakeman grounded to short. Southwick stole 3rd and then scored on Colin Betchel's single.

In the 4th inning John Bapst added 2 runs. Noah Campbell walked and stole 2nd. JJ Higgins reached on a error,  sending Campbell to 3rd. Ben Southwick grounded to 1st and Higgins moved to 2nd base. Sam Southwick doulbed, scoring Campbell and Higgins, making the score 3-1 John Bapst.

Ellsworth scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th to take a 5-3 lead as 8 Eagles came to the plate. Jack Lee started it off with a walk and stole 2nd. Avery Anderson walked, and then Nick Bagley was hit by a pitch loading the bases. Hunter Cote walked, as Lee scored and the bases were still loaded. Then Sam Horne singled scoring Anderson and Bagley, as Cote went to 3rd. Cote scored when McGraw ground out to short.

John Bapst would add a run in the top of the 5th. Betchel singled and then would eventually score on Nate Smith's ground out.

For Ellsworth Sam Horne was 2-4 and Jack Lee, Avery Anderson, Nick Bagley, and Zack McGraw all had a single for Ellsworth.

For the Crusaders, Sam Southwick had a double, Colin Betchel was 2-4 and Nick Siebert and Nate Smith had singles.

Nick Bagley started on the mound for Ellsworth, throwing 3 innings allowing 2 hits, 1 run and struck out 5 while walking 3. Avery Anderson picked up the win in relief. The 3 runs he allowed were all unearned. He struck out 5 and walked 1.

For John Bapst Lucas Harmon allowed 3 runs, all earned on 3 hits while striking out 1 and walking 7. Nick Siebert pitched the final 3 innings allowing 3 hits, and 2 runs, both earned while striking out 1 and walking 2.

Ellsworth is now 3-5 and plays at Old Town on Friday May 13th at 4:30 PM.

John Bapst is now 4-5 and plays at Foxcroft Academy on Thursday, May 12th at 4:30 PM
