Now that Christmas has come and gone, there's the question of what to do with your Christmas Tree. If you have an artificial tree, you just put it back in the box and store it away for another year, but if you had a "real" tree, it becomes a bit more problematic.

The Bar Harbor Town Office put out a email blast letting residents know that Kisma Preserve located on Route 3 in Trenton is accepting used Christmas Trees. The Kisma Preserve's physical address is 446 Bar Harbor Road. If you are dropping off trees there, please don't block the gate with the trees.

In Ellsworth, the City does not accept Christmas Trees. You can bring them to Ellsworth Waste Services, 15 Industrial Road, in Ellsworth, located behind the City Transfer Station. Normally there is a $5.00 minimum fee, but in the spirit of the holidays they may not charge you for disposing of 1 small tree.

Remember if you are going to burn your tree, you will need to get a burn permit from your local municipality.
