Bucksport Girls Fall to Calais 56-51

The Bucksport Girl's Basketball Team played host to Calais on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 but the Calais Lady Blue Devils beat the Lady Bucks 56-51.

Calais jumped out to a 19-13 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Faith Tirrell had 8 points, including 2 3-pointers, Olivia Huckins had 5 points with a 3-pointer and Prue Maxwell and Lauren Cook each had 2 points for Calais. For Bucksport Bree Coombs, and Zoe Erickson had 4 points each, Hailey Craig had 3 points and Cassy Coombs had 2 points for the Lady Bucks.

Calais increased their lead at halftime 35-23 outscoring Bucksport 16-10 in the 2nd Quarter. For Calais, Cook had 5 points including a 3-pointer, Sydney Farrar had 4 points, Tirrell had another 3-pointer, and Erskine and Huckins had 2 points each. For Bucksport Bree Coombs and Zoe Erickson each had 4 points and Cassy Coombs chipped in 2 points.

Bucksport cut the lead by 2 in the 3rd Quarter outscoring Calais 15-13. For Bucksport Bree Coombs had 6 points, Cassy Coombs had 5 and Zoe Erickson and Savanna Colson each had 2 points for the Lady Bucks. For Lauren Cook had 5 points, including a 3-pointer, and Sydney Farrar and Olivia Huckins each had 4 points.

In the 4th Quarter, Bucksport outscored Calais 13-8, but Calais made enough free throws to come away with the victory. Calais was 8-14 from the free throw line in the quarter. For Bucksport, Bree Coombs had 6 points including a 3-pointer, Cassy Coombs had 3 points before fouling out, and Darian Jellison and Zoe Erickson each had 2 points.

Bucksport was led by Breanna Coombs with a game high 20 points while Cassy Coombs and Zoe Erickson each had 12 points.

Calais was led by Faith Tirrell, Olivia Huckins and Lauren Cook, each of whom had 13 points. Sydney Farrar had 10 points.

Bucksport , 3-4 on the season, will get a chance at revenge, as their next game is against Calais in Calais on Monday, January 9th at 6:30 PM.

Calais, 6-0 on the season travels to Harrington on Saturday, January 7th at 1:30 to play Narraguagus.
