How To Apply For Thanksgiving Food Baskets on Mount Desert Island

Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 27th, and this year with the rising price of food, electricity, oil, gasoline, and really everything, more and more of our friends and neighbors are going to need some help.

If your family could use some help with Thanksgiving this year, please sign up by completing the Thanksgiving Food Baskets 2025 Form. The form is available at the Bar Harbor Food Pantry, the Bar Harbor Congregational Church and other locations. You can also submit your order online HERE.

There is no financial test to apply. Families will receive the food needed to make a great Thanksgiving meal: Turkey (or chicken for families of 1-2 people) stuffing, gravy, fresh potatoes and carrots, cranberry sauce and dessert, along with other items to make your day special. Deadline for applications is November 18th. Food will be ready for pick-up or delivery on Sunday, November 23rd and Monday, November 24th.

If you are fortunate enough to be in a position of helping, here's how you can volunteer and help!

Food Drive:
Help provide food for the Thanksgiving Program! Look for donation boxes at the banks in Bar Harbor throughout the month of November, or drop Items in the food donation box at Bar Harbor Congregational Church (next to Reel Pizza). Monetary donations can be made out to “Thanksgiving Baskets” and mailed to the Bar Harbor Congregational Church at 29 Mount Desert Street, Bar Harbor, ME, 04609. All extras will be donated to the area food pantries.

Volunteering:

From November 20th-24th, help will be needed with organizing, packing, and delivering food. Contact 29turkeybaskets@gmail.com if you would like to help.

Baskets will be delivered to the following properties. Other deliveries can be arranged upon request on MDI and out to the outer islands.
