All Ellsworth Schools will be fully remote on Monday, January 25th after an individual has been diagnosed with COVID-19

In a letter dated Sunday, January 24th Ellsworth Superintendent Dan Higgins stated

"An individual who tested positive was last present at Ellsworth High School Wednesday January 20th and  will remain in isolation and quarantine consistent with CDC guidelines. Based on our contact tracing  efforts, as of 4:00 p.m. today we have identified ten staff members and approximately 65 students as close  contacts. Our staff will be continuing the contact tracing process this afternoon and evening. Students  and staff members who are identified as close contacts and required to quarantine will be contacted  directly by school personnel today. Close contacts will be directed to quarantine for 10 days from the last  exposure to the individual who tested positive. Please be reminded that a negative COVID-19 test result  does not eliminate the quarantine requirement.

Out of an abundance of caution, to permit additional cleaning in the rooms and areas where the infected individual was present, and to permit additional time to finalize the contact tracing process, Monday January 25, 2021 will be a “remote learning day” for all students and staff at Ellsworth High School. As further contact tracing and verification of the process may result in close contacts being identified at our other schools, Monday, January 25, 2021 will also be a “remote learning day” for all students and staff at
Ellsworth Elementary-Middle School, Hancock County Technical Center, and for the Ellsworth Adult Education program. Our current plan is to return to the hybrid instructional schedule on Tuesday January 26, 2021 for EEMS, HCTC, and Ellsworth Adult Education. Given the number of EHS staff who are required to be in quarantine, we may need to extend remote learning beyond Monday. A communication
confirming a return to the hybrid instructional model or continuation of remote learning at EHS will be sent Monday. "

Breakfast and lunch meals for all students will be available for pick-up at Ellsworth-Elementary Middle School from 11:00 a.m. through 12:00 noon January 25, 2021. Please call the EEMS kitchen at 667-6494, Ext 4 before 9:00 a.m. Monday morning to arrange for meal pick up
