The Maine Department of Environmental Protection has issued an air quality alert for Coastal Hancock and Washington Counties including the cities of Ellsworth, Bar Harbor, Bucksport, Castine, Eastport, Machias and Cherryfield from 11AM to 11PM on Wednesday, August 29th

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection recommends that individuals consider taking more breaks and do less intense activities. Watch for symptom such as coughing or shortness of breath. Asthmatics should follow their action plans and keep quick relief medications nearby. Those with a heart disease should watch for palpitations, shortness of breath or unusual fatigue and contact your health provider if necessary.

The heat and humidity will increase the impacts of the higher pollution levels.
