The Maine Department of Environmental Protection has issued an air quality alert for the entire coastline of Maine including Coastal Hancock and Coastal Washington Counties on Sunday, June 11th from 10 AM  to 11 PM. This alert extends inland for 15 miles for elevated levels of ground ozone.

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection recommends that individuals consider limiting serious outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, the elderly, and those with pre-existing respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease.

There is a toll free number so those interested may stay informed on air quality situations. That number is 1-800-223-1196
