Abbe Museum in Bar Harbor Reopens to the Public

After being closed all of last year because of the pandemic, the Abbe Museum located at 26 Mount Desert Street in Bar Harbor has reopened to the public. The Abbe, a Smithsonian Affiliate will be open Monday to Wednesday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Because the Abbe's patrons consist of individuals of many ages, demographics and backgrounds they have made the decision that visitors must wear masks while in the museum. This decision was made to insure the health and safety of all guests and protect the most vulnerable.

One of the newest exhibits is "Stitching Ourselves Together" the latest collaberation between the Wabnaki and the Abbe. It is presented from a first-person perspective, with Mi'kmaq artisans and culture keepers sharing their experience working with quills.

Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and $5 for children 11 to 17. Children under 10 along with Native Americans, Military and Abbe Members are admitted for free.
