Maine State Police say the driver who two motorcycles in Washington County, killing one rider, has now been located.

Troopers were called to the crash scene on Springfield Road in T8 R4, near Danforth, at approximately 2:45 Sunday afternoon. When they arrived, they found 50-year-old Don Charette of Frenchville and 30-year-old Jesse Ouellette of St. Agatha badly injured. Both motorcycle drivers were transported to the hospital, where Charette died. Ouellette suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

An investigation into the crash revealed that a Ford Explorer was heading south when the driver crossed the center line and struck the two motorcycles. The vehicle's driver then fled the scene. Police say the Explorer is registered to 35-year-old Rian Moore of Danforth. Tuesday morning, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss confirmed that Moore had made contact with police.

Now, police are looking for anyone who may have seen the crash. People who think they can help can call the Maine State Police at 207-973-3700, extension 9.

Maine State Police were assisted at the scene of the crash by the Calais Fire/EMS and Danforth Fire Departments. The Maine Warden Service and Maine Forest Service are assisting in the investigation.
