67 days later the TS State of Maine returned home to Castine, much to the delight of the families of the crew, regiment, officers and staff.

The State of Maine departed Castine on Wednesday May 7th, and traveled to foreign and domestic ports of call. This year’s training cruise itinerary included stops in Trieste, Italy; Reykjavik, Iceland; Kiel, Germany; Portsmouth, New Hampshire; and Searsport, Maine.

Those aboard the State of Maine had a very active training cruise, not only learning about the tasks onboard, but also assisted in rescue calls as directed by the Coast Guard, laid to rest Captain Charles A. Dickman, Class of 1945  replete with color guard and a bagpipe solo of Amazing Grace   and more. To read more of what happened on the cruise, click HERE
