The SPCA of Hancock County’s annual “Pet Show & Fair” will take place on Sunday, August 12 (rain or shine, under a tent), from 2:00 – 4:00 at the Mount Desert Elementary School ball field in Northeast Harbor .

There will be a blessing of the animals at 2:50. At 3:00, all leashed pets are invited to participate in the Pet Parade & Show. With categories such as “curliest tail, finest howl and most adorable”, this fun event is not to be missed.

Dog agility demonstrations will be led by Barb and Gary Simons.

Highlights under the big tent will include: Lisa Hall with Animal Face Painting; Jenn McNally with Sno-Cones for people and their pets; Lori Pilvines of Beagles of New England States (BONES); Pointer Rescue Group; 4-H with Lee Sargent ; Therapy Dogs International with Gene Nardi ; Honeybee Pottery by Chris Breedlove ; PAWZ of Sullivan; MDI Lost & Found Pet Alert with Krista Thorsell and Sloan Smith; Diana de los Santos and Gary Perkins will have a table for ‘Bark Harbor’ with wonderful pet-related retail items for sale and MDI Pet Food Pantry information; Colleen Vallee of Two Dogs-n-a-Rooster will bring along her lovely roosters, “Elvis”, “Itty Bitty” and her dog, “Bambi”; Hancock County Emergency Animal Response Team (HEART) will provide information; there will also be an incredible array of baked delights coordinated by Michele and Charlie Croan; SPCA animal adoption information, SPCA silent auction, and SPCA animal-related retail items for sale.

The SPCA Pet Show & Fair is a wonderful example of a community event that brings people together to celebrate the animals.
