The Old Town Coyotes defeated Ellsworth 7-4 in a baseball game at Old Town High School on Thursday, May 7th.

K,Gifford picked up the win for Old Town. He went 5.1 innings allowing 4 runs, 2 of which were earned. He struck out 9, walked 1 and gave up 7 hits. Eric Hoogterp pitched the last 1.2 innings, striking out 2, and gave up 1 hit.

Nicholas Bagley took the loss for the Eagles.  Bagley gave up 7 runs of which 4 were erned. He allowed 6 hits, walked 2 and struck out 1.

Ellsworth  jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Conor Maguire doubled to and a  groundout by Alex Braley  moved Maguire from second to third. Nicholas Bagley singled, scoring Maguire.

Old Town answered by scoring  four runs on an error and two singles in the bottom of the 1st inning. .

Two runs in the top of the second helped the Ellsworth Eagles Varsity close their deficit to 4-3. A fielder's choice fueled the Ellsworth Eagles Varsity's comeback. But, Gifford got Braley to strike out to end the inning.

Old Town added one run in each of the second, fourth and sixth innings.

Ellsworth was led by Nicholas Bagley, as he went 3-4 with a double and a RBI. Devin Wright was 2-4. Conor Maguire was 1-4 with a double and 2 RBIs. Griffen Nightengale was 1-4 and Phil Barbeau was 1-2.

Tyler Byther was 2-4 with a RBI, TJ Crawford was 1-3 with a RBI, T. Young was 1-3, B.Upshaw was 1-2 with a RBI and Gifford was 1-3.

Old Town is now 9-0 and plays host to Foxcroft Academy on Wednesday, May 13th at 4:30 PM. Ellsworth is 1-4 and plays host to Foxcroft Academy on Friday, May 8th at 4:30.
