Megan Phelps Leads MDI High School Athletic Hall of Fame Inductions [UPDATE]

Athletic Director Bunky Dow announced the MDI High School Athletic Hall of Fame inductees for the Class of 2018. The 5 inductees will be enshrined on Thursday, December 27th prior to the Girls Basketball Game against Caribou.

The Class of 2018 Inductees include

• Robin MacLeod - Class of 1970
• Kip Cameron - Class of 1978
• Victoria Watras - Class of 1984
• Danielle Hutchins - Class of 2009
• Megan Phelps - Class of 2011

Robin MacLeod -Graduated from Mount Desert Island High School where he participated in Baseball and Basketball. Robin was a deadly shooter from the outside and if the three point circle was in place at the time he would definitely be a 1000 point scorer.  He was Captain of the team his junior and senior years and selected to All Hancock County 1st Team both yeasr. As a member of the baseball team he was the top pitcher for the Trojans and earn first team All Hancock County his senior year. He was the Male Senior Athlete of the Year in 1970.Robin is retired and enjoying life in Florida where he plays plenty of golf daily.

Kip Cameron - He played football, basketball and baseball all four years of high school. He was selected to the PVC All Conference first team in baseball his sophomore, junior  and senior years as a starting outfielder. He was the starting forward on the basketball team his sophomore,  junior and senior year. Voted first team All Conference his senior year. 1000 yard rusher in football and first team LTC All Conference. After high school Kip attended the University of Maine to play baseball and then later transferred to Husson College and became a  starter as an outfielder his sophomore, junior and senior years.

Victoria Watras -  She was  the first 1000 point scorer in MDI High School history. She led MDI to the Eastern Maine Finals in 1983 and 1984. Victoria was named an All-America in basketball her senior year by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association.

Danielle Hutchins - Danielle played soccer, basketball,  and competed on the Indoor and Outdoor Track team during her high school career. Danielle was State Champion in Outdoor Track over her high school career: 2006-100m Dash, 2007-200m Dash & 400m Dash and  2009-200m Dash, . She was the State Champion - Indoor Track-2009-200m Dash & 400m Dash (Class B State Record). Danielle holds many school and PVC  Indoor and  Outdoor Track league records.

Megan Phelps - Megain was a 1000 point scorer for MDI High School and  Big East Player of the Year in 2009 and 2010.  She was selected to the 1st team Big East All Conference her sophomore, junior and senior years. Played four years of volleyball, was first team all state her junior and senior year and participated in the Senior All Star game. Megan was a member of the tennis program for 2 years and helped lead the girls team to a 2011 Eastern Maine Runner-up. She went on the play basketball at Bowdoin College and was the captain her junior year. Currently Megan  is the Assistant Woman's Basketball Coach at Bowdoin College.
