The MDI Trojans Softball Team beat the George Stevens Academy Eagles 17-3 in an exhibition game on Monday, April 15th.

Taylor Grant was dominant in the circle for the Trojans, striking out 11 and allowing just 2 hits. She gave up 3 runs, walking 4.

Mollie Gray and  Hannah Lawson each had 2 singles. Lawson drove in 3 runs. Grace Horner, Cate Brown and Grace Sinclair each had a single. Sinclair drove in 2 runs.

Mya Schildroth started for GSA and went 3.0 innings, allowing just 1 hit, but she walked 8. T. Grego pitched the final 3 innings, allowing 6 hits and 11 runs, although just 2 were earned. She struck out 2 and walked 6.

Schildroth threw 6 wild pitches and hit 5 batters. Grego had 2 wild pitches and hit 5 batters.

Emily Young had a single and Schildroth a double.

MDI opens the season at home against Presque Isle on Saturday, April 20th with a doubleheader against Presque Isle with games at Noon and 2 p.m.

GSA opens the season at home on Wednesday, April 17th against Sumner at 4:30 p.m.

The High School Player of the Week resumes on Monday, April 15th. Nominees for the week April 15-20th should be emailed to chris.popper@townsquaremedia.com by Sunday night, April 21st. Voting will take place Monday April 22nd - Thursday April 25th with the winner being announced on April 26th.
