The MDI Volleyball Team beat Calais 3-2 in an exciting 5 set match at Bernard Parady Gymnasium in Bar Harbor on Friday, October 16th in a fitting end to Spirit Week and Homecoming.. The individual set scores were 26-24, 18-25, 25-23, 11-25, 15-12. It was a measure of revenge for the Trojans, as they lost their first match of the year to Calais back in early September 3-0.

According to Coach Corey

We struggled at times tonight but the girls played some great volleyball.  It took the entire team and five games to get it done, but they did.  I'm proud of them and how hard they've worked these past couple of weeks to get there.  We need to build on the things we did well and let go of the things we did not.  We're looking forward to closing out the regular season Monday and whatever the postseason may bring us.

The MDI Girls had decorated the gym pink, and many wore pink "eye black": or had pink ribbons in their hair in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. They had a bake sale and raffle to raise money for the Beth C. Wright Cancer Fund, and spoke about the importance of monthly self-exams and facts about breast cancer prior to the game.

MDI is now 7-6 and closes out the regular season on Monday, October 19th at home at 5:30 against Bucksport.

Calais, now 10-3 closes out the regular season on Monday, October 19th at home at 5 PM against Narraguagus.
