MDI Softball Beats Brewer 9-4

The MDI Trojans traveled to Brewer on Monday afternoon for a scheduled preseason doubleheader. The Trojans beat the Witches 9-4, paced by a grand slam homer by Darcy Kanu in the top of the 2nd inning over the center field fence!

Haley Littlefield started in the circle for MDI going 4 strong innings, allowing 2 runs, 1 of which was earned. She struck out 4, walked 2 and gave up 5 hits. Aubrie Boyce pitched the final 3 innings for MDI giving up 2 runs, 1 of which was earned. She struck out 5, walked 1 and allowed 3 hits.

Kanu was 3-5 batting, with 5 RBIs. In addition to the homer she also had a triple. She was just a double away from hitting for the cycle. Riley Mooers was 3-3 batting , with a triple and 2 RBIs. Madison Thornton was 1-3, Molly Carroll 2-4, Avalon Kerley 1-4, Ali Bierman 1-3, Haley Littlefield 1-2, Katie Guarino 2-4 with a RBI and Cassidy Parady was 1-3 with a RBI.  Carroll had 2 stolen bases and Kanu had a stolen base as well.

In the second game, the MDI Trojans fell to Brewer in a  game shortened by rain 6-3. The teams were able to get in 3 innings before the game was called.

Madison Thornton pitched for MDI, giving up 6 runs, 3 of which were earned. She allowed 2 walks and 5 hits. Darcy Kanu, Molly Carroll, and Riley Mooers all had a hit for the Trojans.
