MDI Outlasts Hermon 41-38 [BOX SCORE]

The MDI Trojans sank their free throws, going 11-15 from the free throw line including the game winners by Sierra Tapley as the Trojans defeated the Hermon Hawks 41-38 in Bar Harbor in their first home game of the season.

The score was 10-10 at the end of the 1st Quarter, as Hermon was very patient and exhibited good ball movement. MDI's Sierra Tapley had 7 points including a 3-pointer, while Maddie Pullen and Emi Higgins each had 4 points for Hermon.

In the 2nd Quarter, MDI outscored Hermon 13-3, to take a 23-12 lead. Kelsey Shaw had 10 of MDI's 13 points, including a 3-pointer. Pullen had 2 points for Hermon.

In the 3rd Quarter, it was all Hermon, as they sank 3's from outside, and completely outrebounded MDI. Hermon outscored MDI 9-0 in the first 5:17 of the 3rd Quarter before Shaw made a basket. Higgins had 5 points including a 3-pointer, while Sierra Snow had a 3-pointer and Bryanne Crouse had a 3-pointer for the Hawks.

It was back and forth in the 4th Quarter, and Hermon had the lead with less than 2 minutes left, but Shaw and Tapley combined for all of MDI's 14 points in the 4th Quarter and Tapley hit 2 free throws with less than 2 seconds left to preserve the MDI win.

Hermon ended up 7-18 from the free throw line, going 4-9 in the final quarter.

MDI was led by Kelsey Shaw with 18 points while Sierra Tapley had 17 points.

Hermon was led by Emi Higgins with 12 points, while Maddie Pullen had 8 points, and Bryanne Crouse had 7 points.

MDI is now 3-0, and plays John Bapst at the Cross Insurance Center on Thursday, December 17th, at 7 PM in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio

Hermon is now 1-2. The Hawks host Foxcroft Academy on Tuesday December 15th at 7 PM.
