MDI Falls to Old Town 31-8 [PHOTOS]

The MDI Boy's Football Team fell to Old Town 31-8 at Victory Field in Old Town, in the final regular season game. The Trojans finish the season 6-2, and are the #3 seed. They will play host to the #6 seed which will either be Oceanside or Foxcroft Academy next Friday, October 30th in Bar Harbor. If Winslow defeats Waterville on Saturday, it would mean that Old Town and Winslow would need a coin flip to determine the #1 and #2 seeds as they will finish with identical records, and Foxcroft Academy and Oceanside would need a coin flip to determine who finishes #5 and #6.

OId Town won the coin toss and elected to receive, and marched down the field to the MDI 22 yard line when they fumbled the ball and the Trojans recovered.

The Trojans after 10 plays, were forced to punt, and Old Town took over on their own 12 yard line with 5:55 remaining in the 1st Quarter. MDI's defense held, and Old Town was forced to punt.

MDI took over at their own 31 yard line with 4:08 left in the 1st Quarter. The Trojans fumbled the ball and Old Town took over at the MDI 40 yard line. This was the first of 3 fumbles that Old Town recovered on the night.

MDI's defense again stiffened, and forced Old Town to turnover the ball on downs, taking over at their own 10 yard line. But, the next play, another Trojan fumbled resulted in Old Town taking over at the Trojan 10 yard line with 11:44 remaining in the 1st Half.

This fumble proved to be costly, as Old Town would score on a 3 play drive, that took 1:37 when T.J. Crawford ran in from 5 yards out. The 2 point conversion was good, as Crawford went into the end zone, and with 10:07 left in the 1st Half, Old Town was up 8-0.

The Trojans answered on a 1:12 drive, when Croix Albee ran in from 4 yards out. Albee rumbled into the end zone for the 2 point conversion, and with 8:49 left in the 1st Half, the score was MDI 8 Old Town 8.

But, Old Town would score twice more in the 2nd Half, both times coming on long pass plays. With 5:19 left in the 1st Half, Jake Jarvis completed a 40 yard pass to Pascal Cyr for the touchdown, and then threw to Cyr for the 2 point conversion. That made the score 16-8 Old Town.

Then, with 50 seconds left in the 1st Half, Jarvis connected with Andre Miller for a 35 yard touchdown, a drive that took 8 plays and 1:37. The 2-point conversion was good, and at the end of the 1st Half, Old Town led 24-8.

MDI then took the 2nd Half kickoff and marched down the field but ended up fumbling the ball yet again, and Old Town took over on their own 9 yard line.

The MDI offense was pretty well contained in the 2nd half, as Old Town forced the Trojans to turn the ball over on downs.

Old Town scored the final touchdown of the game in the 4th Quarter, an 11 play drive that took 5:34 capped by a T.J. Crawford 24 yard run. The point after attempt was good, and that was the final 31-8.
