MDI Defeats Lake Region 55-29

It was a rematch of the 2014 Class B State Championship Game, and the MDI Lady Trojans got a measure of revenge defeating the Lake Region Lakers 55-29 in the final game of Day 1 of the MDI Thanksgiving Tip-Off Tourney.

Earlier today, Ellsworth defeated Lake Region 41-28, MDI defeated Lincoln Academy 56-35 and Lincoln Academy defeated Ellsworth 54-40.

MDI came out running, taking a 18-8 lead after the 1st Quarter, and never led by less than 10 points the rest of the game. At the end of the 1st Half it was MDI up by 19 32-13, and after the 3rd Quarter it was 41-19. By that time, both coaches were playing with their lineups, liberally substituting and playing different combinations.

MDI was led by Kelsey Shaw with 15 points and Sierra Tapley with 11 points. Lake Region was led by Chandler True with 6 points.

MDI is back at it on Saturday, November 29th playing in Bangor against Bangor and Thornton Academy. They also will play Calais in Bar Harbor on Tuesday, December 2nd in their final preseason game, before opening at home on Friday December 5th against Old Town at 7 PM in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.

Lake Region opens the season at Fryeburg Academy on Friday December 5th at 5:30 PM.
