Maine to Replace Black Bear with Elephant

The University of Maine announced today that they were replacing the Fighting Black Bear logo and mascot with the Elephant!

According to the press release "From 1903-14, the elephant was a regular on the football sidelines. Because it's important to never forget, UMaine is honoring its legacy by introducing the new logo. The new elephant logo stands for Maine's strength and work ethic, and will be worn proudly by University of Maine athletes."
