The Boston Red Sox used the home run ball to come from behind and beat the Kansas City Royals 5-4 at Fenway Park.After falling behind 4-1, the Sox put together a 4-run 6th inning which was highlighted by a 2-run homer by Jonny Gomes that gave Boston the lead. The first two runs of the inning came off the bat of Xander Bogaerts who also crushed a 2-run shot, his 7th of the season.

Clay Buchholz got the start and allowed 10 hits over 6 innings while striking out 3. He gets the win, his 5th this season while Koji Uehara closed out the game for his 19th save. The Red Sox are now 8.5 games out of first place.
