Sophia Lynch hit a grand slam in the 2nd inning and Anna Stevens struck out 14 as the Ellsworth Eagles Softball Team beat the Hampden Academy Broncos 9-2 in an exhibition game in Hampden on Tuesday, April 9th.

The Eagles outhit Hampden Academy 9-1.

Jayden Sullivan was 4-4 and Camryn Clough was 2-3. Aaliyah Manning and Jovi Nightingale each singled.

Charlee Chute started in the circle for the Broncos and pitched 2.0 innings allowing 5 hits and 4 runs. She struck out 4 and walked 1. Kiera Gabric came on in relief and went 2.0 innings allowing 3 hits and 4 runs, striking out 1 and walking 3. Catarina Fachhini pitched the final 3.0 innings allowing 1 hit and 1 run, striking out 6 and walking 3.

Hampden Academy opens the regular season on Tuesday, April 16th when they host Mt. Ararat at 1 p.m..

Ellsworth opens the regular season on Wednesday, April 17th when they travel to Bucksport to play the Golden Bucks at 1 p.m.

The High School Player of the Week resumes on Monday, April 15th. Nominees for the week April 15-20th should be emailed to chris.popper@townsquaremedia.com by Sunday night, April 21st. Voting will take place Monday April 22nd - Thursday April 25th with the winner being announced on April 26th.
