Woodland High School Honors Parts
The Woodland High School Class of 2022 will celebrate Class Night on Tuesday, May 31st and graduation on Saturday, June 4th at 9 a.m. Here are the Woodland High School Honors Parts. Congratulations to the Class of 2022!
The Valedictorian is Justin Carney, son of Lori and Randy Seeley, of Princeton, Maine. His plans are to attend Clark University with a primary major of Business Administration, where he will earn a bachelor's and master's degree through their tuition-free 4+1 program.
While attending Woodland Jr/Sr High School, he took part in many activities, Fandom Club and Student Council. Justin was class vice-president his senior year and he worked with Paul Storey to redesign the Student Council website and drafted a proposal to amend the StuCo Bylaws and Constitution. Justin was the president of JMP and Treasurer of SkillsUSA, where he participated in the Job Interview portion for St. Croix Regional Technical Center. As a member of both, National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society, he participated in many community service activities. Mr. Carney went to Upward Bound, where he took part in the National Student Leadership Congress and was able to meet Senate member Susan Collins. He started an Anime Community where students watched shows and analyzed them. Justin also was a member of the National History Academy. There, the students use the Harvard case method to put all of the students on equal footing in regard to the knowledge of the different historical cases. He analyzed the Federal Negative, the Battle over the Banks, and the Federal Meat Inspection of the Gilded Age to learn more about United States history and the development of our government.
Justin Carney was instrumental in the first WJHS Career Fair for our students to attend. As part of an internship with the guidance office, he communicated with the different businesses in the area in order to pair some of them with the St. Croix Regional Technical Center students. Other businesses/organizations were added to show students some of the other opportunities in the area. Justin currently is working on getting his certification to be a Mental Health Rehabilitation Technician at Washington County Community College.
Woodland Jr/Sr High School - Salutatorian
Sierra Bryant, daughter of Gary and Kim Bryant of Princeton, is the Salutatorian for the Class of 2022. Sierra is currently the President of the WHS Chapter of the National Honor Society, which she has been a member of since her sophomore year. She is the co-president of the student council and is a JMG officer. Sierra is a member of the yearbook committee, prom committee and safety committee. She is also the secretary for the State of Maine's National Honor Society Executive Board. Sierra has maintained high honors while being a three-sport athlete. She has displayed great leadership as a captain of the soccer, basketball and softball teams. Sierra has received the Phi Beta Kappa award and the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen award.
Sierra will be attending the University of Maine at Presque Isle in the fall, majoring in Environmental Science and Sustainability. She is also planning to play soccer on the UMPI women's soccer team. After college, Sierra's goal is to begin a career as a wildlife biologist in Maine. She would like to thank her family and friends for their support and for pushing her to always try her best.
Woodland Jr/Sr High School - 1st Honor Essay
Joanna Korasadowicz, the youngest daughter of Andrzej and Bogumila Korasadowicz of Alexander, Maine will be attending the University of Maine at Farmington in the Fall. She will be starting off in their Chiropractic 3+3 program. That will give her a bachelor's degree in biology with her three years at Farmington, In the next three years, she will attend Logan University in Missouri to get her Doctor of Chiropractic degree. She has been preparing for this by being involved in the National Honor Society for two years, being a part of the Student Council for four years, being a JMG officer her last year, and helping create the yearbook and plan prom. She has also been involved in sports, she played soccer for all four years, basketball for her first two years, and tennis for her last year. She hopes to accomplish her academic goals and have a rewarding career.
Woodland Jr/Sr High School - 2nd Honor Essay
Keagan Wormell, son of the late Scott Wormell, and John and Tina Demmons of Baileyville, Maine will be attending the University of Maine Presque Isle. He will earn a bachelor's degree in accounting and pursue a career in business and finance. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Jobs for Maine Graduates Vice President, and Class of 2022 president. He is the captain of the soccer, wrestling, and baseball teams.
5th in the class: Jamie Bryan, son of Matthew and Trish Bryan from Princeton, Maine.
Future Plans: Jamie will be attending the University of Maine Presque Isle, studying Criminal Justice.
6th in the class: Maranda Honas, daughter of Rebecca Honas and Ronald Hanson of Baileyville, Maine. Future Plans: Maranda will be attending college to become a kindergarten teacher.
7th in the class: Jayden O'Neill, daughter of Jeff and Deb O'Neill of Baileyville, Maine.
Future Plans: Jayden plans to attend Washington County Community College for an associate degree in business. After, she will attend cosmetology school with a goal to own her own business.
8th in the class: Riley Cleghorn, son of Danielle Cleghorn of Baileyville, Maine.
Future Plans: Riley plans on getting a degree in studio art with a goal of working in the animation industry.
9th in the class: Alexandra Papke, daughter of Bette Tomah and John Papke of Baileyville, Maine. Future Plans: Alexandra will be attending Fitchburg State University to study film/video production.
10th in the class: Jasmyne Bohanon, daughter of Tina and Neal Bohanon of Baileyville, Maine. Future Plans: Jasmyne will be attending Washington County Community College to earn a degree in Early Childhood Education. After she graduates, she plans to apply to work at either Woodland Elementary School or Indian Township Elementary School.
