With a winter weather advisory for Downeast Maine, and 2 to 4 inches of snow expected on Friday, it's a good time to remember that winter parking bans are in effect on Mount Desert Island.

Town of Mount Desert - Winter parking ban is now in effect from November 5th through Sunday, May 5th. There is no parking on any street in the Town of Mount Desert between the hours of 12 midnight and 6:00 AM or during periods when snow has accumulated and requires removal from highways, streets and alleys of the town. There is no overnight parking (year round) in any of the municipal parking lots without written permission. Violators will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Town of Bar Harbor - Winter parking ban goes into effect November 15th and lasts through April 15th. During that time, parking is not permitted on public streets or in municipal parking lots between 2AM and 7AM

Town of Southwest Harbor - Winter parking ban goes into effect November 15th and lasts through April 15th. During that time, parking is not permitted on public streets between 10PM and 6AM.
