Winslow Ends MDI’s Season 55-34 [Box Score/Recap/Photos]

The 6th seeded Winslow Black Raiders stunned the 3rd seeded MDI Trojans Friday night, February 16th in the opening game of Tourney 2018, knocking MDI out of the Tourney 55-34.

Winslow jumped out to a 17-8 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Weslee Littlefield had 4 points with a 3-pointer, Haley Ward had 4 points, Meaeghan Bernard had 4 points, Madison Roy had a 3-pointer and Broghan Gagnon had 2 points for the Black Raiders. For MDI Alexis Clarito, Maddy Candage and Hannah Chamberlain had 2 points each. Emily Banks was 2-2 from the free throw line.

In the 2nd Quarter Winslow put the game away, outscoring MDI 18-4 to take a 35-12 lead at the end of the 1st Half. In the 2nd Quareter, Ward had 5 points with a 3-pointer, Gagnon and Sarah Guimond had 4 points each, Silver Clukey had a 3-pointer and Bernard had 2 points. For MDI Candage had a 3-pointer and Julia Watras had 1 point.

MDI was outscored 18-11 in the 3rd Quarter, as Winslow increased their lead to 30 points at the end of the 3rd Quarter 53-23. For Winslow, Paige Trask had 4 points, Ward 4 points, Bernard and Weslee Littlefield each had a 3-pointer and Gagnon and Bodhi Littlefield 2 points each. For MDI Candage had 4 points, Clarito a 3-pointer, and Banks and Rachelle Swanson 2 points each.

In the 4th Quarter Julia Watras had 4 points, Maddy Good 4 points, Lily Cook 2 points and Rachelle Swanson 1 point for the Trojans. Winslow's lone points came from Paige Trask.

MDI was led by Maddy Candage with 9 points. MDI was 6-9 from the free throw line.

Winslow was led by Haley Ward with 13 points and Maeghan Bernard had 9 points.  The Black Raiders were 5-9 from the free throw line

MDI's season ends with a 14-5 record.

Winslow, 14-5 will play in the semifinals on Wednesday, February 21st at 2;05 against the winner of the John Bapst-Waterville quarterfinal.
