Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks had a game Sunday, April 7th against the Toronto Blue Jays. Middlebrooks, had 3 home runs and a double and single and went 4-5 batting, and flew out to the warning track in left field in his last at bat as he led the Red Sox in a 13-0 rout of the Toronto Blue Jays. Middlebrooks had 3 of the Red Sox 6 home runs. Also homering for the Red Sox were Jacoby Ellsbury, Mike Napoli and Daniel Nava.

The Red Sox pounded out 15 hits, and all starters with the exception of Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Jackie Bradley Jr. who were held hitless.

Jon Lester improved to 2-0 on the season. He pitched 7 innings, striking out 6 and walking none. Lester lowered his ERA to 1.50. R.A. Dickey took the loss for Toronto and is now 0-2. He gave up 8 runs, 7 of them earned in 4 .2 innings.

Jacby Ellsbury stole his 4th base of the season in 6 games.

The Red Sox return to Fenway Park to play the Baltimore Orioles in the Sox Home Opener on Monday, April 8th at 2 PM. The pregame starts at 1:20 on WDEA AM 1370. The Red Sox are in 1st place with a record of 4-2 and are 1 game ahead of Toronto and Baltimore who are both 3-3.

The Red Sox are off to a much better start in 2013! After 6 games this year they are 4-2 compared to 1-5 in 2012 and 0-6 in 2011!
