Monday October 12th is Indigenous People's Day. It was known formally as Columbus Day until 2019 when Maine legally changed the name of the holiday. Want to know what's open and closed? Here's a list

• The Post Office will NOT be delivering regular mail
• Most banks and credit unions are closed but TD Bank branches are open
• Some local businesses

If you want to learn more about the Wabanaki, Abenaki, Maliseet, Micmac, Passamaquoddy, and Penobscot people who have lived and continue to live in Maine you should visit the Abbe Museum in Bar Harbor. It's the only museum in Maine affiliated with the Smithsonian Institute. Although closed to the public for in person visiting because of COVID-19, they do have lots of information available online
