Bar Harbor's Fourth Of July Schedule For America's 250th

There's so much happening on Saturday, July 4th in Bar Harbor! There's a good reason that Reader's Digest has recognized Bar Harbor as one of the best places to celebrate the 4th, and with this year being America's 250th Birthday, there's even more reason to visit Bar Harbor!

Here's what's happening in Bar Harbor on the 4th of July!

7 a.m. - 10 a.m. Pancake Breakfast produced by the Bar Harbor Rotary Club on the Bar Harbor Athletic Field on Park Street. Enjoy blueberry or plan pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, sausage, orange juice, milk, water, tea and coffee
Craft Fair/Marketplace - 8 a.m. -3 p.m. The Island Arts Association 's Craft Fair/Marketplace with take place at the YMCA, 21 Park Street.
Independence Day Parade - 10 a.m. . The parade goes from Main Street to Cottage Street to Eden Street to Mt. Desert Street to Ledgelawn Avenue.
Seafood Festival - 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Enjoy Maine lobster rolls and crab rolls, hot dogs, hamburgers, French fries, watermelon, chips, water and soda. Takes place on the Bar Harbor Athletic Field on Park Street.
Family-fun activities at the Ball Field from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Summer Festival of the Arts will host family fun activities such as face-painting, sow cones, hair tinsel, and fun zone. $5.00 per activity station.
Entertainment at the Town Pier from 1 to 9 p.m. The Great Maine Lumberjack Show will provide demos and axe-throwing from 1 to 3 pm. and from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Lexi James and the Wildhearts will perform from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Bar Harbor Town Band - 7:30 to 8:30 will perform at the Gazebo in the Village Green.
Fireworks over Frenchman's Bay - Approximately 9:15 p.m. The best viewing is in Agamont Park (rain date Monday, July 5th)

And remember! You don't have to pay for parking in Bar Harbor on the 4th of July. So even though the meters and kiosks are there, feel like rebel and just ignore them!

NOTE - The Bar Harbor-Mt. Desert Police Department will have the sandbar to Bar Island blocked to vehicular traffic on the 4th to prevent any vehicles from being stranded when the tide comes in. Low tides in Bar Harbor on Saturday, July 4th are at 8:23 a.m. and 8:35 p.m.

Here's the Parade Route

The Bar Harbor-Mount Desert Police Department will be closing the parking lot at the top of Newport Drive (Agamont Park) starting at 12 noon on Saturday July 4th for the fireworks. No one should be parked on the street from Agamont Park down to West Street after 12 noon. Cars WILL be towed. Don't come back and have your 4th ruined because your vehicle was towed!
