Trenton Acadians (Maine) Hands Massachusetts 1st Loss of the Season 14-8
The Trenton Acadians Senior Legion Team (Team Maine) handed Franklin Post 75 their 1st loss of the season on Thursday, August 3rd beating the Massachusetts Champion 14-8.
The Acadians trailed 6-0 at the end of the 1st inning, but scored 5 runs in the 3rd inning. Massachusetts scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning to take a 8-5 lead. But in the 5th inning, the Acadians erupted for 9 runs, sending 15 men to the plate to take a 14-8 lead!
Peter Keblinsky and Colin Sullivan led the Acadian's offense, each banging out 3 hits and going 3-5. Keblinsky had a double and drove in 3 runs, while Sullivan had a triple and drove in 2 runs.
Dawson Curtis was 2-3, with a triple, driving in 3 runs. Joey Wellman-Clouse had a single and drove in 2 runs.
Colin Sullivan and David Baugh each stole a base.
Colin Sullivan started on the mound for the Acadians. He went 2 innings, allowing 3 hits and 6 runs. He walked 4 and struck out 1. Dawson and Hunter Curtis came on in relief, holding Massachusetts to 3 hits and 2 runs in 5 innings. They struck out 4 and walked 4.Dawson pitched the 3rd and 4th innings, allowing 2 runs, with Hunter pitching the final 3 innings, holding Massachusetts scoreless.
The Acadians are now unbeaten, 2-0 in the Northeast Regionals. They play Friday, August 4th at 2:45 p.m.
Massachusetts is now 25-1 and 1-1 in the double elimination Tournament
Maybe it's Karma! Eaton the Eagle made a miraculous return, and is accompanying the Acadians in Worcester. Eaton, went "missing" from on top of the Ellsworth High School dugout, right before the playoffs in 2022
