The Tremont School PTO in conjunction with the 4th Graders are holding a Spring Egg Hunt and Pancake Breakfast on Saturday,  April 11th from 8:30 to 10 a.m. All proceeds from the event will go to the 4th Grade Fundraising for The John F. Bickford Medal of Honor Memorial Project.

According to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society, Captain Bickford was born in Tremont, Maine in 1843.  He served on board the U.S.S. Kearsarge when she destroyed the Alabama off Cherbourg, France, on June 19, 1864. Acting as the first loader of the pivot gun during this bitter engagement Bickford exhibited marked coolness and good conduct and was highly recommended for his gallantry under fire by his divisional officer.

The 4th Graders are fundraising to put a plaque on the Veteran's Stone outside of the Tremont School, to honor Captain Bickord.

The Breakfast will be served from 8:30 to 10 a.m. and the Egg Hunt will start at 10:15 a.m. The cost is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children.
