T.J. Maxx, Marshalls Plan To Reopen Most Stores By June 30
Officials with T.J. Maxx and Marshalls announced Thursday they plan to reopen most of their stores by June 30.
After being closed since March, Bangor's T.J. Maxx reopened on Monday, June 15. Bangor is home to both a T.J. Maxx (on Broadway) and a Marshalls (on Union Street.)
Beginning on May 2, the company had reopened about 1,600 of its stores worldwide. The company has a total of 4,545 stores. There are nine T.J. Maxx stores in Maine. There are three Marshalls locations.
In its most recent fiscal report, officials said there would be changes once the stores reopen. Included among those changes are that associates will wear face masks, and customers will be expected to wear face masks. Protective shields also will be placed between cashiers and customers are the register, and employees will undergo wellness checks before beginning work.
In Maine, the state's reopening plan allows for many retail establishments to reopen on June 1 under strict guidelines aimed at reducing the spread of COVID-19.
