The Dunbar Store In Sullivan Announces Opening Date

All this year we've been watching folks renovating the old store on Route 1 in Sullivan Harbor, and the time to show it off is now only days away!

The new store, now owned by Scott Holtz and his partner Bobby Cheshire of Corea, had been closed since Philip Dunbar sold it back in 2014. For months on Facebook, we've been watching the new owners of the newly renamed Dunbar Store do amazing things both inside and outside of this former downeast Maine institution. The store will feature a huge beer cave and selection of wines, a deli, a big selection of products made right here in Maine, freshly prepared food that will be served all day, and inside and outside eating areas.

The Dunbar Store will officially open for business at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2nd, according to a post by Town of Sullivan, Maine on Facebook.

We used to work for Emery Dunbar who owned the store back in the 70s, when we were young.  During the summer months the store was the busiest in the area with locals and summer folk alike stopping by for everything from gas to ground beef to clothing.  Those times were good for the store and for the town of Sullivan.  We wish the new owners all the best in their quest to bring back that heyday, and surpassing it!
