Perhaps President Obama has a future as a TV Producer when his term is done. The big news out of Hollywood today is that the President’s idea to fight racism by painting the White House (Read About It Here!) has been bought by Mark Burnett, the producer of such hit shows as Survivor, Celebrity Apprentice, and The Voice, and will be turned into a reality series tentatively titled Repainting American History.

“It’s going to be the ultimate reality series as it will combine smarts, brawn, athleticism, cunning, artistic ability, and sheer will of determination,” Burnett bragged to this Modern Philosopher from the White House, where thousands of potential contestants gathered on the South Lawn for for the announcement. “Teams will camp out on the White House lawn and compete daily for the right to paint the building. There will be physical, creative, and mental challenges, making it part Survivor, part Project Runway, and part History Week on Jeopardy. Each team is going to need athletes, brains, historians, artists, manual laborers, and a few wild cards who understand what needs to be done in order to succeed under pressure.”

President Obama was thrilled with the news. “Selling this idea to a genius like Mark Burnett cements my place as one of the greatest Presidents in American history. My name is going to be in the credits as an Executive Producer, I’ll make surprise appearances, and maybe I’ll show up as a judge. Best of all, the production company is footing the bill for the paint job. Who’s the man, now, Republican Party?”

Potential contestants flooded the South Lawn of the White House once rumors of the big announcement spread like wildfire via social media. “I’m planning on this being an ongoing series,” Burnett explained as we watched people strain to get close to the President and First Lady for pictures. “This isn’t a one time deal. Each season, we’ll stop in a different state, find a historical landmark, and have the teams compete to paint it.”
