Jessika Bridges, a senior at Sumner Memorial High School and a resident of Prospect Harbor, has been honored with the prestigious 2024 Principal's Award, as announced by Principal Mr. Jackson Green.. Jessika is the daughter of Elizabeth and Gary Grovogel, of Prospect Harbor, and Richard Bridges and Sally Stanley, of Gouldsboro. This distinguished award, sponsored by the Maine Principals' Association, recognizes Jessika's outstanding academic accomplishments and commendable citizenship.

Throughout her 4 years at Sumner, Jessika has displayed exceptional academic prowess and has been an active member of the National Honor Society. Her involvement in various extracurricular activities has been notable, alongside her contributions as a member of the class leadership, notably holding the position of class treasurer. Additionally, Jessika has demonstrated her commitment to learning by participating in the Hancock County Technical Center’s Health Occupations program, where she has excelled and earned recognition by being inducted into the National Technical Honor Society. She was selected as the December (2023) Student of the Month for Health Occupations within the HCTC section. Her dedication in this program has led her to attain certifications as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Certified Residential Medication Aide (CRMA). She is set to further her education in nursing by pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) starting in the fall of 2024.

Jessika, along with Mr. Green and other awardees and their principals, will be honored at an  Honors Luncheon on Saturday, April 6, 2024, taking place at Jeff’s Catering at 12:30 p.m. The event will also involve the drawing of ten $1,000 scholarships named after former Maine principals and MPA Executive Directors: Horace O. McGowan, Richard W. Tyler, and Richard A. Durost.
