This year valedictorian with summa cum laude distinction is Rachael Hastey, daughter of Ryan and Kathrin Hastey of Sullivan. Rachael is a member of the National Honor Society and serves as the secretary of the Sumner NHS chapter.  She has participated in cross country, swimming, indoor track, and tennis.  Rachael has earned the Phi Beta Kappa Leadership Award and has received highest honors  every semester throughout her high school career.  She has taken advantage of the Early College Program and  earned 15 college credits with a 4.0 GPA.  She has held a part-time job at Hannaford and is very involved with youth programs at her church.  Rachael will be attending Cedarville University in Ohio for elementary education in the fall of 2022.

Salutatorian with summa cum laude distinction is Alexis Coombs, daughter of Walter and Beth Coombs of Sullivan. Alexis Coombs, is a member of the National Technical Honor Society and serves as the chapter secretary.  She has participated in soccer, cheerleading, and volunteered with the Unified Bocce team.  Lexi has been enrolled in the Hancock County Technical Center's Bridge and Health Occupations programs for two years.  She has earned certifications in the following areas: Direct Support Professional (DSP), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) , Certified Residential Medication Aide (CRMA), Personal Support Specialist (PSS), EKG Technician,  and CPR/First Aid.  She has attained 30 college credits with a 3.938 GPA.    Alexis has been accepted in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program at Husson University.

The first honor essayist with summa cum laude distinction is Rachel Colby, daughter of Jason and Laura Colby of Gouldsboro.  Rachel is a member of the National Honor Society and serves as the Sumner chapter's president.  She was the recipient of the Bausch and Lomb Honors Science Award and the 2022 Maine Principals Award. She has participated in soccer, basketball, and softball.  Not only was Rachel  named to the 2021-22 Penobscot Valley Conference All-Academic team for soccer and basketball, she was also named to the PVC 2nd team for basketball.  She was recently selected as the Downeast Athletic Conference's Player of the Year for softball and earned the same honor for basketball this past winter.  She participated in the University of Maine Machias graduation ceremony on May 6th where she was presented with her Introduction to College Studies certificate.  She has earned 18 college credits with a GPA of 3.89 through the University of Maine system.  Rachel is a Davis Maine Scholar and will be attending the University of New England to study neuroscience on a fully paid scholarship.

Second honor essayist with summa cum laude distinction is Moira Sankey, the daughter of Cheri Rich of Surry and Andrew Sankey of Gouldsboro.  Moira is a member of the National Honor Society, serving as the Sumner chapter's vice-president.  She has also served on the school committee as a student representative and has held the position of class representative in the Student Council.   Moira's honors and awards include the Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglas Award, the Russell Sage College Student Award, and an Academic Excellence Award in French.  She attended the Johns Hopkins Summer Youth Institute during the summer of 2020.  Moira will be attending Wheaton College in the fall pursuing a degree in English the goal of becoming a professional journalist.
