Stories From the Greatest Generation at The Jesup Today Saturday February 10th

There aren't many opportunities like this.. A chance to hear from the "Greatest Generation"! Today, Saturday February 10th at 1 PM at the Jesup Memorial Library in Bar Harbor you can hear from a local World War II veteran and the son of another World War II veteran.

Warren Worcester, who lives in Southwest Harbor, will talk about his time in the Pacific Theater. Worcester joined the army in 1943 and was stationed in New Guinea and the Philippines. On October 20, 1944 his regiment was part of the invasion on the island of Leyte in Philippines and the island was not secured until January 17, 1945. He then was stationed on various islands in the Philippines including Luzon, Mindoro and finally Mindanao, where he was stationed until the war ended.

Nat Fenton will speak about his father, Col. William Fenton who landed in Normandy, 10 days after D-Day, and was stationed with the 19th Army Artillery Corps and crossed France into Germany during the campaigns of 1944-1945. He will speak about tracing his father’s footsteps across the continent using maps of the path the 19th Army Artillery Corps took, along with letters his father sent home to his family. Nat will also touch on the life of Phyllis Paradis who was part of the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) based out of Greenville, Mississippi. Paradis, who lived in Bar Harbor, recently passed away at the age of 99.
