September 6th is National Food Pantry Day! It's a day I hope you can celebrate by bringing some food to your favorite Food Pantry. Unfortunately, there's an incredible need for food, and Maine is one of the most food insecure states in the country.

The Bar Harbor Food Pantry has a special need for school lunch style snacks and condiments during the month of September! Think cooking oils, vinegar and spices as well as cereal and rice! For snacks think crackers, Goldfish, granola bars, popcorn, nuts and  dried fruit

The Bar Harbor Food Pantry is open Tuesdays from 9 to 1 and Thursdays from 4 to 6. If you wish to drop off food and they're not open, you can drop it off at the Bar Harbor Hannaford (look for the box) or in the lobby of the YWCA, or at the following churches - Bar Harbor Congregational., First Baptist, St. Savior, Church of Our Father and Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.

The Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 to 11 AM and is located at 119 Bucksport Road in Ellsworth.

Free Meals are served Monday  3-6PM  at the Episcopal Church on State Street in Ellsworth across from the Moore School. Tuesday from 4 to 7 at the Bar Harbor Congregational Church through Open Table MDI and there's entertainment. On Wednesday the First Congregational Church of Ellsworth invites all community members to a free meal in the dining hall from 3 to 7PM.
