Hector Velazquez couldn't stop the bleeding allowing 3 runs in 2.1 innings on 4 hits. Tyler Thornburg, pitching the 7th inning allowed the final 2 runs on 2 hits and a homer.

The good news for Boston is that they banged out 11 hits. Mookie Betts was 3-5 batting 2nd in the order. The new lead-off hitter Andrew Benintendi was 1-4 with 2 RBI's. JD Martinez was 2-5. Christian Vazquez, Xander Bogaerts and Eduardo Nunez each had a double.
