Round the Rock Swim to Benefit Open Table MDI Ends After 11 hours and 20 miles
Puranjot Kaur's effort to swim around MDI ended after 11 hours and 20 miles, as she stopped swimming, just after 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 4th.
Open Table MDI is an amazing group, that has been offering FREE delicious and nutritious meals to the community for the last 4 years, serving from the Bar Harbor Congregational Church.
Prior to the pandemic they were offering entertainment Tuesday evenings, and had expanded to Saturdays (prior to summer) and even had expanded to Southwest Harbor and Northeast Harbor pre-pandemic.
Now, one of the founding members, Puranjot Kaur again attempted a non-stop solo swimming circumnavigation around Mount Desert Island to benefit Open Table MDI, She went into the water last night, around 7:20 p.m.
The swim around Mount Desert Island would be approximately 44 miles and would take roughly 24 hours. Kaur wore only a normal bathing suit, cap, goggles and ear plugs. Wearing a wetsuit is against the Marathon Swimmers Federation's rules.
